The cemetery is located next to the Slate Lick Reformed Presbyterian Church, with which it has no affiliation--nor has this cemetery ever had any other affiliation than with the Buffalo United Presbyterian Church. There is a thorough history of the Buffalo church given in the book "Slate Lick Reunion " which describes the different church buildings and when they were built. The first church was a log building about 30 feet square, built by Abram Smith and William Minteer in William and his wife and several children and grandchildren are buried here. Abram probably is, too, but his grave is unmarked, as are some others who were recorded as buried here. The second church was built in on a plot of ground donated by James Rayburn, father of James and Matthew Rayburn.
